Acatenango. The Acatenango is a more difficult to climb, but the views that you have from this volcano are amazing. Especially at the Fuego Volcano which is an active volcano located next to the Acatenango. During your hike on the Acatenango you come through a beautiful pine forest which provides some nice shade. You can also camp for one night at this volcano to have an impressive night view at the Fuego Volcano. |

Acatenango. The Acatenango is a more difficult to climb, but the views that you have from this volcano are amazing. Especially at the Fuego Volcano which is an active volcano located next to the Acatenango. During your hike on the Acatenango you come through a beautiful pine forest which provides some nice shade. You can also camp for one night at this volcano to have an impressive night view at the Fuego Volcano. Elev: Two peaks at 3,975m (13,041 ft) and 3,880m (12,730 ft) Notes: The taller peak is called "Pico Mayor" and the smaller peak is "Yepocapa", "Tres Hermanas" or "Tres Marias". Acatenango is the third tallest in Guatemala. Near the peak are small craters emitting sulfur. Acatenango is an almost identical twin of nearby Volcan de Fuego. The two volcanoes are connected by a saddleback called "La Horqueta" |
